Welcome to I wish I was Crafty!
I hope you will stay for a while and get to know us. We would certainly like to get to know you!
I’m Cynthia Rusincovitch and IwishIwasCrafty.com is inspired by… well, my life.
I learned to crochet from my grandmother when I was 7 years old. Then forgot…. oops. But longed to pick it up again. Thanks to my Mother-in-Law who showed up on my doorstep with some yarn and crochet needles, I soon realized that my fingers remembered what my brain could not. I haven’t put down my crochet needle since.
But it got me thinking… if I can crochet, I bet there is a lot I could learn by just trying – instead of telling myself “I wish I could do that… I wish I was crafty.” <— see what I did there.
So this site is a journey of experiments and learning… and creating for the joy of it, without any expectation of perfection. I hope you will join me. Find your likeminded crafting friends in the super-positive, super-supportive private Facebook group Oh So Crafty.
We don’t allow criticism in the Facebook group, just support. So if you have never picked up a piece of yarn or a jar of ModPodge, no worries, we got you. (Cranky people get the boot!)
About Cynthia Rusincovith
My husband Jeff and I live in the historic city of Savannah, Georgia with our 3 daughters, who are 5, 7, and 18 years old. Yes, that is a big age spread! And yes, having kids of such vastly different ages keeps things interesting. But these girls love each other. Even on an off day (siblings!) all 3 would tell you that sisters are special.
We also have a cat named Roxie and a dog named Daisy who is a small dog trapped in a large dog’s body. Don’t believe me? Check out our Instagram feed where she makes an occasional appearance. Even at 60 pounds, she hides under my desk when it rains and wants to be held like a lap dog.
For 15 years, I was a corporate marketing director and loved my job. But life often throws us curveballs and mine came in the form of an amazing husband whose aerospace job required us to relocate.
While Savannah is a beautiful city full of rich experiences, it is not exactly a bustling hub for my former industry. So I dreamed up on online business that allowed me to put my old marketing skills to work in a new way.
It also allowed me to be more available to my 3 girls and enjoy the occasional mid-morning coffee with friends. Can’t say that the corporate environment allowed that very often.
I originally started blogging at My Nourished Home, where we share recipes, parenting, and family content for moms everywhere who just want to take care of their families.
I wish I was Crafty brings all my passions together – yarn, plants, furniture, DIY home, and yes, family – and shares them with you.
I hope you find something that inspires you here.
